John, filming could have easily been before the current owners had the place. Regardless, I only wrote what I was told when I did my interview. Also, I haven’t scene either movie you mentioned so I really wouldn’t know.

You’re wrong about this place being used only in “feel good” films. It’s also in “Past Obsessions” a movie similar to “Sleeping With the Enemy”, neither which are cozy films!

My boys used to pick up their papers for delivery at Porter’s … it looked way different back then with all Mr. Porter’s lawn mowers out front.

Thanks Net, I appreciate your noticing the details of what goes into these posts. Some take longer than others to put together and I try my best to make them accurate and capture everything that I can. Porters has been in so many different movies and I don’t think it will stop anytime soon. In fact I know Darrow & Darrow 2 recently shot there. I agree…..I LOVE that Bill & Karin wont just let anything film there. I totally respect that and it DOES say a lot about them. Thanks for your comment. 🙂

I missed this post during the busyness of Christmas, but thankfully someone shared this link on my site and I came by to see it, too!

This is absolutely incredible, Kerry! I love, not only how you find these locations, but how you also show pictures of the homes or businesses used in various Hallmark movies!

It’s amazing how different features change, from movie to movie, but you can really tell it’s the same sweet place! The owners, Bill and Karin, sound like wonderful people! I like that they are picky about what is filmed at their location. That says a lot about their character.

As for which movie filmed there is my favorite??? Hmm??? That is so hard! I love so many of them! My top three are probably… Harvest Moon, Christmas Cookies, Marry Me at Christmas…, but they are all my favorites!!! What can I say?

Elden Porter(Eldy we called him) Was the owner of Porters during my childhood we spent alot of time looking through the glass covered candy counter as Eldy would fill paper bags with our choices. He would work on lawn mowers, sell you rubber boots,pump gas and send your letters.. These are memory’s etched in my mind for ever. Thankyou for your feature

So hard to pick a favorite. I would so love to go there. It is such a beautiful part of our country! Great article. Now I’ll know in the future movies if it was “scened” there!
